Real-time Field Data Collection Provides Instant Updates to Clients

Over the last few months, the Aspen Geospatial Team has been busy supporting field staff in mapping biological and cultural resources for “essential” projects across nearly 400-miles of terrain. This data will be used to support efforts aimed at reducing fire risk and increasing the electrical reliability of critical services to a vulnerable part of California. These efforts were conducted in compliance with health and safety requirements associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
To support the survey crews and allow them to easily socially distance during data collection, each crew member was equipped with mobile field apps that allowed them to collect and sync data in real-time from personal devices. Decision-makers were able to view the up-to-date progress of the mapping project via online maps
Habitat types, water features, special-status plant and wildlife observations, and cultural resources were mapped along nearly 400-miles of terrain.
