Fostering Future Environmental Careers: Aspen's Thriving Internship Program
Over the past two years, Aspen's Environmental Sciences and Planning Internship Program has thrived, transforming the summers of 2023 and 2024 into incredible opportunities for aspiring environmentalists. This program has successfully engaged students from underrepresented groups, bringing essential perspectives to tackle environmental challenges in our communities. Aspen knows that solving complex environmental issues requires every voice to be heard. A diverse workforce is not just an asset but crucial for developing comprehensive solutions that benefit all community members.
Aspen's journey began in 2023 with an unpaid internship, welcoming 5 enthusiastic undergraduates to our Agoura Hills office. They experienced three days of intensive virtual and in-person training with environmental specialists and three additional days of hands-on field experience alongside archaeologists, biologists, and construction monitors.
In 2024, Aspen elevated the program by offering a paid internship for two dedicated students over six weeks. One intern immersed themselves in environmental documentation at the Agoura Hills office, while the other assisted with cultural resources fieldwork and documentation in the Upland office. Aspen is thrilled to announce the continuation of this impactful program in 2025, providing another round of paid internships to expose students to the myriad exciting careers in the environmental field.
