Cultural Resources At Aspen Is Growing
Aspen’s Cultural Resources Group is expanding its capabilities and capacity in order to assist our public and private sector clients in meeting their CEQA and NEPA cultural resources requirements in a more efficient and cost-effective manner. Consisting of Secretary of the Interior-qualified prehistoric, historic, and maritime archaeologists experienced in all aspects of cultural resource management, our team is supported by historians, ethnographers, architectural historians, lithic specialists, paleontologists, and osteologists that provide a range of expertise to address the often complicated and varied cultural resource issues that can accompany most projects.
Aspen’s Cultural Resources Group is highly experienced in geospatial studies, expertly employing drones and GIS analysis, and has developed proprietary surveying software that increases efficiency in the field, leading to significant cost reductions in both field work and reporting time. The Group is directed by Dr. James Allan, who recently joined Aspen after a nearly 30-year career in cultural resource management. He is joined by Michael Macko, Aspen’s Group Manager, with support from Cultural Resource Specialists Elliot D’Antin and Al Knight, as well as a large number of highly experienced archaeologists throughout the state to provide additional capacity as needed. For additional specialty services, Aspen also has long-established relationships with several cultural resources firms in the Western United States.
Our Cultural Resources Group provides all aspects of cultural resource management, including archival research, Native American consultation, assistance with AB 52 consultation, geospatial analysis, field studies, archaeological testing, data recovery and documentation, historic architectural analysis, paleontological studies, and archaeological and paleontological monitoring. Aspen’s Cultural Resources Group is proud to be an integral part of our company’s growth and looks forward to contributing to Aspen’s continuing success in assisting our agency and private sector clients in meeting their regulatory environmental requirements.
