Aspen’s Energy Resource Economics Group Presents At CRRI Conference
Catherine Elder and Ashley Spalding, part of Aspen’s Energy Resource Economics group, attended the Center for Research in Regulated Industries’ (CRRI) 28th Annual Western Conference in Monterey, CA from June 24 through June 26. This conference attracts largely California-based energy and utility economists, policy analysts, and academics who present papers on topics such as time of use rates, business models, regulatory capture, tools to meet greenhouse gas targets, measuring energy efficiency results, cost-effectiveness of energy storage and related analytic topics from the water, electricity, and natural gas industries. This marked Elder’s fifth year attending the conference and Spalding’s first time attending and presenting. The Aspen pair presented their paper, Disruptive Technologies in the Cable TV and Electric Utility Industries. The paper highlights the parallels between the introduction and impact of potentially disruptive technologies in the cable television and electric utility industries and explores how utilities in both industries can adapt to these new technologies and remain relevant in the future.
