Location: Phoenix, AZ

Aspen Environmental Group is seeking a qualified and motivated Environmental Compliance Monitor to join our team for a large-scale renewable infrastructure project in western Arizona. This is a full-time, project-based position expected to begin as early as May 2025 and continue for approximately two years. Seeking local candidates from the Phoenix area or candidates that are willing to relocate for the duration of the project.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience or demonstrated knowledge of analyzing biological impacts and developing mitigation strategies under CEQA.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience or demonstrated knowledge of regulatory permitting pursuant to USFWS, CDFW, USACE, and RWQCB requirements.

  • Experience monitoring construction projects.

  • Previous third-party monitoring of large-scale infrastructure projects preferred, but not required; however, any previous environmental monitoring (non-third party) of large-scale infrastructure projects will be considered.

  • A bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or a closely related field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily onsite monitoring to ensure full implementation of environmental mitigation measures, permit conditions, and plan requirements.

  • Review and verify the results of preconstruction surveys.

  • Ensure project mitigation measures, permit conditions, and plan requirements covering a variety of issue areas (e.g., air quality, biological resources, water resources, SWPPP, traffic control, etc.) are implemented through daily onsite monitoring.

  • Prepare clear and timely monitoring reports to document compliance findings.

Mandatory Qualifications for Success

  • The candidate must possess the ability to interpret and convey applicable regulatory permit conditions and mitigation measures.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with construction crews is required.

  • A reliable four-wheel drive vehicle is required.

  • References are highly recommended.

Compensation

Aspen offers a wide range of benefits and a competitive compensation package. The pay range for this position is $32 - $38 per hour, commensurate with experience, and may include overtime.
