Environmental Services - Western Area Power Administration, Sierra Nevada Region

Aspen has a Blanket Purchase Agreement to provide on-call NEPA and other environmental support services to Western Area Power Administration’s Sierra Nevada Region. Under this contract, the Aspen Team has provided biological and cultural pre-construction surveys, environmental awareness training, and construction monitoring for several overhead groundwire installation projects throughout northern and central California. Aspen ensures compliance with the terms and conditions of Western’s Programmatic Agreement with the California State Historic Preservation Office and Biological Opinions from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Additionally, Aspen provides Western SNR with comprehensive GIS support services, often working as an in-house extension of Western staff. Currently, Aspen is staffing full-time GIS professionals at SNR to administer and run its GIS program, including all GIS/GPS request support, cartographic products, data collection and management, LiDAR, video, and photogrammetric data review and analysis, staff training, GPS use, equipment troubleshooting and project development. Additionally, Aspen is a participating member on a high-level committee to develop a comprehensive Transmission Line Inspection Software and Database across the entire Western organization in support of the agency’s “One-Western” initiative.
