On January 14, 2015, the California Department of Conservation, through its Division of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR), published the highly anticipated Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) titled “Analysis of Oil and Gas Well Stimulation Treatments in California.” Aspen assisted DOGGR with preparation of this Draft EIR, as required by Senate Bill 4 and pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act, in order to provide the public with detailed information regarding potential environmental impacts associated with well stimulation treatments in California. The subject of well stimulation, particularly what is referred to as “fracking,” has recently been the subject of intense public interest throughout the State and nation. The public review period for the Draft EIR began on January 14, 2015, and will end on March 16, 2015. During the comment period, Aspen will assist DOGGR in conducting six public meetings throughout the State to receive verbal and written comments on the Draft EIR and, subsequently, assist the agency in preparation of the Final EIR.
