This project involved the installation of a 2,000-mile fiber optic network throughout California. Aspen provided mitigation monitoring for eleven construction segments, as well as supplemental CEQA compliance review (Subsequent MND) for over 30 proposed network support stations across the State. The fiber optic installation project traversed an extensive range of environments, including streambeds, wetlands, coastal sage scrub, mountain, desert, agricultural, rural, and urban areas and included documentation of non-compliance activities, variance request review and recommendation to CPUC, and extra workspace review and approval. Fifteen project shutdowns occurred, seven of which were imposed for safety violations and mitigation plans were developed. Understanding of bore technology was of key importance to this project.
