A Preliminary Environmental Profile of California's Imported Electricity, 2005
California Energy Commission. Aspen provided a preliminary environmental assessment of the impacts to air quality, water resources, and biological resources associated with California's imported energy from coal, hydropower, natural gas, nuclear, and renewable energy resources (wind, geothermal and biomass). Applicable environmental laws are identified, with a particular emphasis on air quality regulations. The generation characteristics for each fuel type are described and particular attention is given to coal and hydropower.
