Aspen completed the 2005 and has nearly completed the 2006 Environmental Assessment (EA) for the participation of a US Army's Air Defense Artillery battalion in a military training exercises known as “Joint Red Flag” for ‘05 and ‘06, conducted on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands under airspace controlled by Nellis Air Force Base in Lincoln County, Nevada. Services included desert tortoise surveys, environmental monitoring, and the development of vegetation maps, environmental education cards, and detailed area maps issued to soldiers participating in the exercise. For the 2006 exercises, Aspen is also conducting cultural resource surveys, coordinating with NAFB, BLM, and Nevada resource agency staff, and preparing the Right-of-Way document for NAFB.
