Cabrillo Port LNG Deepwater Port Project Environmental Document Review
The City of Oxnard retained Aspen to provide expert EIS/EIR review services for the
Cabrillo Port Liquified Natural Gas Deepwater Port project. Due to a high level of
local concern regarding the proposed project and its impacts, the City decided to
retain the services of an environmental consulting firm familiar with the local area
and highly knowledgeable about energy infrastructure projects. Cabrillo Port is a
proposed floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) that would be moored in
federal waters approximately 14 miles offshore of Ventura County, California.
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Pacific basin would be delivered to the
deepwater port by LNG carrier and then offloaded onto the FSRU. The LNG would be
re-gasified at the FSRU and delivered onshore via two new 21.5-mile, 24-inch-diameter
natural gas pipelines laid on the ocean floor. These pipelines would come onshore at
Ormond Beach near Oxnard.
