Project Type: Surface Water Drainage - Flood Control

Sunland Channel Master Plan, Flood Control District of Maricopa County

Aspen is currently completing a revision to the Sunland Channel master plan located in Avondale and Phoenix, Arizona for the Flood Control District of Maricopa County. The study consists of: 1) survey to verify topographic conditions along the Sunland Channel alignment; 2) hydrologic analysis using the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers HEC-1 program for existing and proposed (developed) conditions; 3) development and evaluation of Sunland Channel alternatives; 4) consultation with plan stakeholders including the cities and developers; 5) recommendation of a revised master plan; 6) preparation of 10% plans for the recommended plan including right-of-way and utility crossing information; and, 7) a cost estimate. Eight alternatives are being developed by Aspen to a level of conceptual design, to be evaluated for cost, right-of-way requirements, and feasibility.
