  • Senior CEQA/NEPA Project Manager:

    Aspen is seeking a senior professional to manage environmental impact analyses and environmental planning projects. The position requires a bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, planning, or a related field (master's degree preferred) and at least ten years of experience conducting impact analysis pursuant to CEQA and NEPA, including management of EIRs and EISs. The responsibilities of the position include:

    • Coordination of multi-disciplinary teams in the preparation of CEQA and NEPA documents and providing support in environmental planning and permitting, primarily for public works and infrastructure projects;
    • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with clients and public agencies;
    • Oversight of the preparation of technical analyses for environmental documents, including assurance of product quality;
    • Supervision of staff and subcontractors;
    • Developing and managing project budgets and schedules;
    • Participation in business development activities and management of proposal preparation efforts; and
    • Contract negotiations, task order preparation, and contract compliance.

    The successful candidate must be an effective project manager and client liaison, have excellent writing and communication skills, and possess the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.

    This position can be held in any Aspen office location.

  • Senior Biologist

    Requires a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) and 8 or more years of experience with California and southwestern ecosystems. This is a senior position that would involve expert technical consultant services to clients, interaction with resource agencies, guidance to junior employees, personnel management and development, and assistance to the company’s business development efforts. Preferred experience includes assessment of biological impacts under NEPA and CEQA, preparation of Biological Assessments, formulation of habitat restoration plans, design of biological resource mitigation programs, and supervision of botanical/wildlife/wetland studies and surveys. The ability to manage CEQA/NEPA projects is an advantage. Knowledge of natural resource management, conservation biology, and permitting under endangered species and natural resource protection regulations is also desirable. The successful candidate must be an effective project manager and client liaison, have good writing and communication skills, and possess the ability to work well with other professionals on multi-disciplinary teams.   • Mid-Level Biologist

    Requires a bachelor's degree and 4 or more years of experience with California and southwestern ecosystems. This position would involve working under the direction of a technical expert conducting biological surveys, CEQA and NEPA report writing, and completing a variety of both field and office activities. Standard computer and word processing skills are required. Preferred experience includes the ability to identify common plant and wildlife species of southern California, knowledge of sensitive biological resources, and familiarity in evaluating impacts under NEPA and CEQA. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in the field in a variety conditions and possess strong writing and interpersonal skills.   • Environmental Planner/Scientist

    Aspen Environmental Group is seeking an entry-level professional for its Agoura Hills office to assist in the preparation of environmental impact analyses and environmental planning projects primarily for public works and infrastructure projects. Responsibilities will include research and preparation of CEQA, NEPA, and other planning documents; assisting project managers with project support activities, including public participation, document production, and coordination of subcontractors; and participation in business development activities. This position requires a bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, planning, or a related field (master's degree preferred), working knowledge of CEQA and NEPA, and 0 - 2 years of related experience. Must have excellent writing and verbal communication skills, be proficient with Microsoft Office, and possess the ability work with multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Environmental Engineer/Scientist - Air Quality

    Aspen is seeking an entry-level professional to assist in the preparation of environmental impact analyses and environmental planning projects primarily for public works and infrastructure projects. Responsibilities will initially include; under direction of senior staff, the preparation of impact analyses, permit applications, and other environmental documentation focusing on air quality. The successful candidate will be eager to expand air quality technical capabilities and knowledge, as well as, expand technical capabilities and expertise to other environmental science disciplines such as noise and environmental hazards impact analysis. This position requires a bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably chemical, environmental, or mechanical) or environmental science, and 0 - 2 years of related experience. The qualified candidate must have excellent analytical skills along with above average writing and verbal communication skills, be proficient with Microsoft Office, and possess the ability work with multi-disciplinary teams. Part-time employment and/or part-time telecommuting will be considered for superior candidates.   • GIS Analyst

    Aspen Environmental Group is seeking a GIS Analyst. Aspen is an environmental consulting firm involved in interdisciplinary environmental compliance, planning, and engineering services provider for energy, natural resource, and infrastructure projects in the western United States.

    The qualified candidate will have at minimum a bachelor's degree; a minimum of two years direct experience with ArcInfo 9.x performing GIS analysis, database design, reports and cartography; preferably in the environmental consulting field. Experience in developing and implementing Geodatabases, with Microsoft Access proficiency. Remote sensing, GPS and AutoCAD knowledge helpful. Responsibilities will include mapping functions, performing graphic editing, line cleaning, topology building, database updating, converting datasets, converting map data to a digital format, digitizing hardcopy materials and information and processing GIS data for maps.

    Required Skills:

    • A minimum of two years full-time experience using ESRI's ArcInfo 9.x series software for data creation, maintenance, and analysis.
    • Experience in developing and implementing Geodatabases.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Access.

  • Vegetation Management Specialist

    Aspen Environmental Group is seeking a Vegetation Management Specialist to administer projects along its transmission lines ROWs throughout Northern California. The Vegetation Management Specialist will implement integrated vegetation management procedures, monitor and maintain NERC conductor clearance with vegetation, work with contractors to remove vegetation within the ROW, and compliance with environmental requirements. The position requires forestry or related degree and a minimum of 3 years of utility line clearance experience.

  • Energy and Infrastructure Planner/Analyst

    Aspen is seeking an energy and infrastructure planner/analyst with a minimum of 5 years of experience in producing plans or reports to determine trends and issues associated with the energy and water supply industries in California. The candidate should have a thorough understanding of: supply, demand, pricing, reliability, efficiency and the associated impacts on public health and safety, the economy, resources, and the environment. The position requires a minimum of a BA/BS in energy policy/science, planning, or related field. Excellent writing and research skills are required.

  • Energy Analyst

    Aspen Environmental Group is seeking an Energy Analyst with strong analytical and writing capabilities to support its energy economics and planning policy practice. This individual will be offered the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of energy efficiency, energy resource planning, and energy economics projects. Some quantitative analysis capabilities, including some applications programming experience, and the ability to write well for technical and non-technical readers are important. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual to build experience through participating in high level energy policy projects in California and the western United States.

    A strong interest in energy policy analysis is required. The ability to understand and interpret engineering-economic energy modeling results is a plus. Practical energy economics and planning experience is desirable. The ability to work in a team environment and a high level of personal motivation are very important. Please indicate specific experience or training that indicates an interest and ability to contribute to energy policy and planning analysis. Please provide evidence of strong writing and analytical capabilities. A Bachelor's degree is required (Master's preferred) in economics, finance, energy policy, public policy, or engineering.
