Aspen Celebrates 20 Years
and
Opens New LEED Candidate Headquarters

Introduction

We are sending this first paperless electronic message to our clients, subcontractors, and friends to announce two very important events in our corporate life. One is the 20th anniversary of our company’s establishment and a review of our past, present, and future hopes and aspirations.

The other is to announce our move to a newly constructed LEED (Gold candidate) headquarters office in Agoura Hills, California, for which we are very proud and excited.

How Did It All Get Started?

Aspen’s President, Dr. Hamid Rastegar, recalls the genesis of Aspen Environmental Group as a modest beginning in early 1990. “Professor Richard Perrine, UCLA’s head of the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, from which I graduated, recruited two graduates to work on projects he had in hand. What We Have Accomplished

People have been telling us that what we have accomplished over the last 20 years is very impressive for a relatively small company.  We have successfully managed a variety of assignments related to energy and infrastructure, originally for projects in California and then expanding to other western states. Over time, we have also expanded our services and added expertise in fields such as biological resources, policy analysis, climate change, and GIS. Our client base expanded from a core group of public agencies to a large cross section of federal, state, and local agencies, and more recently a growing number of clients in the private sectort.    [Read More]

Our New LEED Corporate Office

We are proud to announce the opening of our new LEED headquarters in Agoura Hills, which is a candidate for Gold certification.

Based on our growth in recent years, we needed to move to a larger space. We decided to “walk the talk” and make a significant leap forward and be an environmentally sensitive company. We felt that it was important as a company involved in the environmental industry to hold ourselves to the highest standards in green building. Aspen hopes to set an example and raise the bar for our clients, subcontractors, competitors, and our neighbors.    [Read More]

Personal Reflections on our Twenty Years

Over the years, Aspen has grown from three founding partners to over 70 staff members. With low turnover and most original employees still with the firm, it is rewarding to see the founders’ goals for company culture, work style, and creativity still embraced by our staff after twenty years. This success is why we have continuity and consistency in our staff, leadership, and client relationships.    [Read More]

Aspen’s Community Involvement

By nature, a company that cares about the environment is a company that cares about community. Dr. Rastegar leads our staff in giving.
In some years, Aspen makes contributions for a wide array of organizations. In other years, such as following large natural disasters, it is more focused giving.    [Read More]
